Help for poor families with autistic children

Training on Autism, behaviorial psychology, ABA... is mandatory for giving effective therapy. The demand for such training is increasing and so we have introduced a scheme where the trainee are either to make a donation or give three month free service. Such tradition is new but we have to push. Our plan is at least sponsor 10 kids from poor families in each town and thereby attract attention of families who can afford covering the costs. Addis Ababa case is good example where we sponsor 12 kids through Timothy Project and have attracted 3 and 5 parents to cover the costs for our homebased and school assistants respectively. For Mekelle service, we are supporting 4 kids only due to the unrest though we have the budget secured for one year to cover costs for 10 kids.

• $1,000 supports therapy for one autistic child for 1 year

• EHM has recently expanded its outreach to Hawassa, one of Ethiopia's ten largest cities.

• As evidence of EHM's impact grows, churches and government bodies are expected to help sustain this important work.
